Or don't use XP64, considering Canon, HP & Epson don't have 64 bit drivers for a lot of their hardware that rules out a massive chunk of the peripheral market, for me it means no drivers for my EOS300D, my printer OR my scanner, on top of which, having tried XP64 for a reasonable amount of time I've concluded it's no faster in any noticeable way.

I haven't tried XP64 that much (only got a licence last week), but I have found that the one area that does seem faster is file access. I do a fair bit of video editing at home on Premiere Pro, and although Premiere Pro is not 64 bit, it seems noticably more responsive on XP64.

anyway, I find this bit surprising:
Quote:
"It will only be the top of our range designed for applications of an advanced business nature that will initially be supported on the 64 bit platform. However, Canon will monitor the take up of the new OS and respond accordingly, if necessary."

As I see it, a lot of the people buying semi professional & professional equipment from Canon (scanners, the EOS300D etc) would benefit from 64 bit computing, and may be considering or already have 64 bit PCs. It seems that Canon are willing to forsake a potentially large market.

A third more posts than Kronas...

I think manufacturers are probably waiting for Longhorn, I know I am, native raw support!

hp have some prebeta drivers out for some of their printers, there is also a verson of logitechs setpoint that works on xp64 (its somewhere on hp's site )

activesync 3.8 works ok on xp-64 execpt for the explore mobile device function which im told works if you run the 32 bit explorer.exe but ive not tried that yet.

ati and nvidia both have working graphics drivers out for xp64 and nvidia also have nforce drivers for motherboards.

Re: Windows XP Pro x64 Compatibility List

Well isn't this ironic... Linux has better 64-bit support from HP than Windows does!

(The hpijs driver used by CUPS in Linux is supplied by HP, and compiles just fine on X86-64 versions)

Yeah, well annoying.
My problem was caused by a loose connection into the PCI board though...

Back on x64 now - nice to see that all the drivers and apps are no longer beta versions.
