Free DVD encoders?
Does any one know a good DVD encoder for Windows 2000, as "some how" my Power DVD 5 disc has cracked, and so I can't watch any DVD's on my PC
I've tried VideoLAN, but keeps crashing.
Any others I could try?
Thanks in advance

Re: Free DVD encoders?
You mean, decoder...
If you have installed Power DVD then the software decoder will already be installed so you just need a player.
Try Media Player 9 or 10.

Re: Free DVD encoders?
It's not installed. I just keep getting an error message saying there isn't one installed
Sorry for the typo.

Re: Free DVD encoders?
To get a software decoder you have two options:
a) Buying it
b) Downloading it (illegal but it is an option)
PowerDVD is a very good one, it supports SPDIF output too although I doubt if you have a setup which supports surround sound.

Re: Free DVD encoders?
If you look at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...809#DVDDecoder, Cyberlink have a cheap cut-down version of PowerDVD and Intervideo have a cheap version of WinDVD. Both are $14, so should be around £8 or £9..
