Mesh

Hi all - anyone had any issues with these lads?

i need to buy 4 computers for work and while im normally a dell bitch i had a look round the MESH website and it seemed good and a bit cheaper (that surprised me) also the ability to configure an order was a lot better than the dell options..

So i gave them a ring and told em what i wanted seemed nice enough and got a reasonable quote but knowing a thing or 2 i noticed the quote had a naff mATX mobo 2mb buffer on the drive and an unbranded LCD .. so hmmm i went maybe its not good value in the long run - granted i have no idea what im getting off dell either but id like to know if anyone here had a good or bad experience with them.

Oh and if you did use them before whats the warranty etc like are the efficient?

Thanks in advance

ps . 1 hour to go till its the weekend

Re: Mesh

I've used mesh in the past for home computers and found them to be reasonable. However last time was a couple of years agao, since when I've found Dell to be more competetive. I've not had reason to call on either's waranties so don't have personal experience. However with Dell in particular their use of India based support call centres is an issue if something goes wrong. That in itself migh be a reason to use Mesh.

Re: Mesh

I have bought 2 home PCs from Mesh but I have always made sure that I knew I was getting good quality components. For example, I have upgraded the monitor, sound card, etc. to get what I want so I cannot comment on the quality of their basic monitors, etc..

If you look around the Mesh site you can always find the latest PCs that have been reviewed by PC magazines and these always seem to be better value for money (using better quality stuff, etc.) and are a good base for a PC.

I found that to get the cheapest offer you need to look at all the PCs available and choose the one that has almost everything you need and only upgrade a couple of things.

Re: Mesh

Funny you should ask.....Both my PC and Mandys laptop are from MESH.
The build and components are excellent but their customer service is worse than ntl's (imo)
Their frontline staff know nothing (not their fault) and consequently, dealing with MESH when something goes wrong is a nightmare.
This is what I e-mailed them last week......still not heard back from them.
Quote:
Dear Sirs,
I have purchased two computers from Mesh in the past. The latest being a laptop in 2003.
Recently the laptops hard disk failed. I returned it to Mesh for investigation. I have now been rung twice by
Mesh employees ('Ali' and 'Mohamed')and asked to return their calls, as I wasn't able to get to the phone when they rang.
It is impossible to return their calls as it isn't clear what dept they are calling from and when I finally get through to what
would seem to be the relevant dept, the person who I talk to doesn't know who they are. Very frustrating.
In addition, when I finally spoke to someone, I was told that I would have to pay £138 for a new hard drive. They couldn't tell me what make or size the new drive would be, just what it would cost me. Interestingly, the exact model that was being replaced would cost a mere £54 from Toshiba.
I also confirmed that I would get my old drive back as I need to retrieve data from it and was told that I would have to buy it back from Mesh!
When I explained that I had already bought it from Mesh once before (when I purchased the laptop) the lady I was speaking to (Nikky, I think) said that as I was querying it, Mesh would let me have my old drive back for free! The fact that it already belongs to me was lost on her.
All of this (and many other mistakes-both technical and administrative) over the last few years are sorely testing my patience with Mesh.
This is unfortunate as the quality of your machines is very high but the quality of support is very lacking.
Yours,
