Whats happens if i connect ethernet and usb??

I would like to share my internet connection with my brother, we've got nic's installed, and its a straight network cable going from my PC to his, but the network is a real mess, so would it be possible to connect the ethernet port to my pc, and the usb port to his pc? Thanks.

What would be the point of that?
You'd need two IP addresses.

An ethernet connection is an efficient two-way network interface so why on earth would you want to use USB?

If you want to share the net connection and still have a network between the computers, get another NIC and then follow this guide:

Why not connect the modem to usb port on one computer, then connect your computer to your brothers with the ethernet?

Thanks for that . I have WinXP installed on both PC's, when i configure them using the Network Setup Wizard, it works until one computer switches off, then every time i gotta do that again, and i cant share files or my printer, and to share the internet,i have to use win proxy. But now that i got that guide, hopefully it will all work. thanks again Richard M and everyone else
