Event Log Mystery

Hi All....

Since I upgraded a workstation to xp pro I have been seing lots of these errors in the event log as a failed audit :-

Logon Failure:
Reason: An error occurred during logon
User Name: ******
Domain: **********
Logon Type: 11
Logon Process: User32
Authentication Package: Negotiate
Workstation Name: ******
Status code: 0xC000005E
Substatus code: 0x0

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

The user seems unafected as he can access all shares ect but he has reported that it sometimes takes a few seconds to open a share.

The machine is a member of a windows 2000 advanced server domain. All other computers that are running windows 2000 are unafected. The security policys on the machine match the 2k boxes...

Any ideas ???

Re: Event Log Mystery

Googling reveals this, this and this

Seems to indicate a problem with the client not being able to contact the servers to service the logon request. Might be something to do with the DNS as well from what I've read, but I'm no sys admin so I've only skimmed thorough!

Re: Event Log Mystery

Status code: 0xC000005E (NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS) basically means it cannot find a domain controller. Usually a WINS or DNS issue.
