Pentium 1 233mhz MMX

Does any one have an old P1 233mhz MMX processor with a FSB of 66mhz that they don't need or would like to give away? My server has the normal P1 200mhz (black "plastic" one) and Iv'e found out it can take a P1 200mhz-233mhz MMX processor as long as the FBS is 66 or lower.

Thanks

Emperordalek is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Pentium 1 233mhz MMX

I don't think it will be worth the trouble of changing it. Your not going to see much if any difference in speed.

Re: Pentium 1 233mhz MMX

I heard MMX support is better for FTP servers, and for SETI@Home (which this is running).

Re: Pentium 1 233mhz MMX

I had a Pentium MMX lying around somewhere.
It has a metal heatspreader with "Intel Pentium MMX" engraved on it.

Ahh, is like a pink-ish colour? if it is then that might work. I got one that is pink-ish, 100mhz, and works fine in it.

Re: Pentium 1 233mhz MMX

Not pink no.
From memory it's black underneath and metal on top.

You'd be better off getting a cheap AMD Duron/mobo imo.

Re: Pentium 1 233mhz MMX

Erm, I have no money. Well, about £40 but thats it. That's why I just wanted to see if some one had a P1 MMX to speed my server up a bit. Does that chip of yours say what FSB it runs at? If it's 66mhz then it should work.

EDIT: BTW did you mean by this one? http://www.ixbt.com/cpu/images/x86-c...um-mmx-new.jpg
