Question A bit more help if I may

Having spent all day messing about with my website creating software I've learnt how to do lots of things, but the one thing I want to do I can't

I use NetObjects Fusion (although that probalby doesn't make a difference) and I want to be able to put a picture on my website that flashes on and off.

Any pointers please?

Cheers

The easiest way is to create an animated GIF. Check your software to see it can make these. Otherwise (if you're good at javascript) you could write a scriptto dynamically change the HTML to add or remove a normal GIF.

Re: A bit more help if I may

Do you mean flashes on and off without the user doing anything (for example, not a mouseover?)

You could either:

1. Create a two-frame animated gif to flash it
2. Don't make it flash, because flashing stuff is really, really annoying

I do want it to flash, but not annoyingly! Just be there, disappear, but slowly; More like a slow pulse I suppose. I have no idea about writing any scripts (otherwise I wouldn't have needed to ask!!!!!).

I'm just a simpleton trying to learn

For a slow flash rate you need more frames.

For example :

Frame A
Frame A
Frame A
Frame B
Frame B
Frame B
Frame C
Frame C
Frame C
Frame C

Where
Frame Type A = Full On Image
Frame Type B = Colour Faded (ie partial disapeared)
Frame Type C = Total Off, ie Blank

The more frames you have the slower the rep rate

Animation Studio (Part of PaintShop Pro) from JASC www.jasc.com is great for this sort of work.

Microsoft GifAnimator can be used at a push too.

Or just paste the image here and I'll do it in Flash MX for you, should take about 20 seconds.
