Photo Stitching
Can anyone recommend any good photo stitching software. Software to stitch a panoranic scene together.
The photostich that Canon produce is trying to be too automated and doesnt work too well

I found the Canon one pretty tasty, especially if I took all the photo's on a motorized tripod It's the only one I've used unfortunately so couldn't really recommend any others.

Re: Photo Stitching
i found the joins to be a bit dodgy at times. Some are ok but some are poor.
Tried PTGui which looks good as you can specify the match points. Just seemed to crop the picture badly

You really do need a tripod to make panoramic scenes as it is virtually impossible to hold a camera in a position that enables all perspectives to align properly without one.

I've not really had any problems with the Canon one, but...
Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 has a photo merge function to create panoramic pics.
It's a lot cheaper than it's big brother, Photoshop CS, & IMO is a very good step up from the ArcSoft PhotoImpression (?) software you get with a Canon digicam.

Thanks for that, Photoshop elements 2 came with the camera. Never thought to look to see if it did stitching. I'll take a look tonight

Re: Photo Stitching
I use Corel Photo-Paint and a lot of jiggling by hand. It's very time consuming and not very professional. You can see some of the results on my website.
PC Pro have recently reviewed Stitcher 4 by Realviz, it looks very good but is pricey - £250 + vat!

You got PSE with the camera? Cool. Good deal? I got it seperately. It's a great prog. Not as featured as "proper" Photoshop, but still great for someone like me.
What camera do you have, btw?

Re: Photo Stitching
Just wondering, does Photoshop CS do stitching? (p.s. I've also just got a new camera, flogged my Canon A80 and bought a Canon Powershot G5, very nice, very chunky)

Re: Photo Stitching
i tried Photoshop elements 2 and the megre process. Results werent brilliant either. The skyline was all jagged. Maybe it was my poor panning that caused it
