Heres my method (I know its complex but bear with me )
to do this you will need the following...
A PC
A Brain
A hand with at least 1 working finger

1) use your brain to control your hand (with at least 1 finger) to Load up your DVD burning application

2) select the files you want to be backed up

3) Burn them to disk

and there you go a simple and effective backup solution

Re: backing up my hard drive ?

There was a software review in this month's .net magazine of a program that will allow you to create a fully functioning bootable cd-rom for XP. It also allows you to put stuff and drivers you'd actually need in the event of an emergency on this disc, such as an antivirus program.

I forget what it is called now, if I remember I'll dig the mag out tonight and let you know....unless someone else has one to hand. (it's int he forensics article)

Norton Ghost will back up an image of a hard drive to a DVD.
