I upgraded from a 9700 pro to a 9800 pro, but I sold the original 9700 pro on Ebay and ended up only having to pay around 10-20 quid extra for the 9800 pro as it was on special on Aria.co.uk. Can't honestly say I've noticed a huge difference in frame rates though.

Personally, I'd wait a while longer.

9700 pro's are among some of the hottest running cards available and as for overclocking, most models won't do it, certainly the Gigabyte Maya II was impossible.

I'm running a 9600XT at the moment but I'm going to wait until the new generation of cards are out before upgrading to a 9800 Pro/XT because the prices will fall shortly after the launch of the R4xx/GeForce 6800.
