How do I take IE off my computer for good? Not hidden, but REMOVED (while installing would be helpful) alos other windows russibish

That's not recommended, it's kinda intergrated, and windows update would stop working.

as downquark said, don't bother trying to get rid of IE, it is not worth the hassle. What other stuff are you trying to get rid of?

1)backup.
2)Uninstall it, find IE folder & hit delete.

Anything thats specific to IE only will be there, if its elsewhere then it will most likely be needed by the OS.

If all works well then you wont needed to re-install, but you never know.

If you want to remove IE intergration then the only way to do it is to downgrate to Windows 95 or NT which do not have IE intergrated.

Removing IE on anything above 98 is a risky process and should not be attempted because you could screw it up and render your system useless.

Why do you want to remove IE anyway?

you dont keep it in u can still use other browsers and set the to be the default..
many people here use opera etc fine on xp.

I expect he wants to remove it because it is a mediocre web browser.

'Removing' IE is a difficult question to answer because M$ has carefully branded various bits and pieces of Windoze to give the appearance of IE being an integrated part of the operating system. But don't believe their marketing nonsense, you can get rid of those parts of it that are genuinely a web browser easily enough. Zoombini has summed it up.

After you have done this you will probably find Windoze is still peppered with references to Internet Explorer. Just ignore them. They're not the web browser, all they are (amongst other things) are those parts of the OS that deal with networking etc. You know - the bits and pieces other, more honest, OS manufacturers simply regard as part of their OS.
