the silver one comes with 2 pads instead of the obligatory one, also it has an infra red port on the front, a new remote was released for it which allowed for the tray to be opened and closed, as well as the normal playback features.....

Re: Getting a new ps2 whats changed with them
sAs Kronas said they have a new remote which allows them to "on,off & reset console aswell as the benefit of the eject button" ( not really needed since you have to go up to console to change disc anyway LOL.Power button on remote well appreciated!
Also the console now has a quieter cooling fan just like the xbox and a inbuilt infra-red reciver so you don't have to keep pulling out game controller ports. Lastly the console now has added ability to play DVD-R & DVD-RW discs. By the way since you re gettting the "satin silver" version you can also get the official DVD remote in satin silver now aswell!

Re: Getting a new ps2 whats changed with them
forgot to mention, you can also get the silver memory cards, instead of having a black one

Re: Getting a new ps2 whats changed with them
I think there is a silver network adapter in Japan, none the less the adapter goes at the back so you can't really tell as long as you have a good & expensive TV stand!!!!!

Re: Getting a new ps2 whats changed with them
my tv stand is all black so a black xbox/ps2 is ideal anyway.

I briefly had a ps2 when they came out....
It wouldn't play more than 5 of my dvd's I had at the time, it was REALLY noisy.....
I was looking at the box for the new version today and it says it's quiet - and plays dvd-r/rw and dvd+r/rw....
If this is true I may get one - as I could do with a backup dvd player as well as something that will play ps1 games
