telnet

A friend of mine uses telnet to access emails on a Unix server (as far as I understand) Now this involves obviously opening telnet, opening a connection to the server, and giving a username and password.
What he wants to know is if it would be possible to create a desktop shortcut with some code which will automate this log on process?
I thought some of you bods might have a solution.
