Unhappy Obvious stuff you never discovered while playing

The subject line (and, indeed, entire thread) is a blatant rip-off from one I've been reading recently on NTSC-UK, but is one of the best ideas I've ever seen. The idea is to post with (preferably fairly recent) elements in games you've been playing that took you ages to work out.

For instance, I unlocked nearly all of MotoGP and had been playing it for months before I realised you could powerslide by double-tapping the accelerator (or releasing it and going straight back on to the juice, more accurately), which made it far easier to get round bends.

A lame example, but you get the idea.

Can't think of any recent Xbox-related "obvious" moments though, heh.

And i only discovered yesterday - and it was my 7 year old son who told me, the SHAME! :o - that you can press the Start button during an XBL session of R6 to find out how many kills each player has.

Too much co-op play, I guess.

Also very handy to see who just got the recent kill when 4 of you charge into a room etc atthe same time.

I've just found out that in order to unlock the TVR Cerbera 12 speed in PGR2, you need to complete the entire Kudos challenge on Platinum.
(I guess I'll be giving that a miss then! - Done it all on Sliver, with quite a few golds, and a handful of Platinum's - but ALL PLATINUM - you've got to be kidding! )

Not quite obvious, but I found out last night that in Rainbow Six 3, on the Garage level, if you shoot the board room chairs, feathers fly out of them.

ok, i doubt any of you play this, but in the hobbit, if you are at an object that you can push around by pressing 'x' if you press 'x' to start the push, but then press 'b' it rolls the object...

not useful, but more to the point is my six year old showed me that.

This isn't really going to fit into the thread, but, on RalliSport Challenge 2, if you complete the Ameteur career, the background smoke changes to bronze instead of the blue/silver. I expect Pro will go Silver, and Champ gold

That you can shoot through some doors, you can also see if anyone is behind the door by using your thermal vision goggles.

Sorry to "up" this thread or so to speak, but in Links 2004 sometimes bears cross the golf course. It's just so surprising, haven't managed to hit one yet.
