Xbox 360 xbox live IP Problem

Ok, i tried to have a game on xbox live today-on the 360 and when i tried to connect it said it couldnt. So i checked all of my connections. and made sure everything was turned on(i dont have a router so i need to turn on my pc) when it said it again. I tested my connection on the screen and it said my "isp address" failed. HELP??

Are you sure you are running it in ad hoc mode and not access point?

If you are running wireless through a PC connected to the internet, it needs to be ad hoc mode.

Re: Xbox 360 xbox live IP Problem

if i knew what that meant, i would make some sort of comment on it. i got told on another board it was a firewall problem and to turn them off. so i did and tried to sign into XBL again- to no avail. I got the option if i wanted to test my connection which i did. it read..

Network Adapter-Wired
Ip Address- Failed

I have been playing for a few days "in this way" so i dont see w hy it has failed today..

Are you playing through ICS? In other words you have an ethernet cable running from the back of your 360 to the back of your PC.

Check to see if the connection you are using is shared as sometimes this somehow manages to unshare itself. Also check to see if Windows firewall is switched off.

Go to your connections properties then select the 'Advanced' tab. In there you will see things about the Windows Firewall and under that there are two boxes for ICS. Simply check the first box and click OK. See if that works.
