Question Re: Connection for Xbox live 360

How are you connecting ? Wired? Wireless? More details needed and any error messages.

Everything should be left to Automatic for the settings. Also when you first plug in the xbox360, power down the modem for at least a minute., then switch it on followed by the xbox360.

Re: Connection for Xbox live 360

Try rebooting the modem and router before turning the 360 on.

Re: Connection for Xbox live 360

I dont have a router..... Just a modem, I dont use my pc as im on xbox live.

On the Ntl box, does the Ethernet light meant to constantly flash REALLY quick, i dont know what that means and also i have to put the Ethernet cable in a certain position for the light to come on otherwise it doesnt light up.

Its really annoying me.

by the way i live in london, so its not like im in area that hasnt got easy internet access.

Re: Connection for Xbox live 360

Just reboot the cable modem before powering on the 360. If you have been using the modem with a PC before hand then you need to restart the modem in order to connect the 360.

Also have you got a PC conencted to the USB on the modem, as you can only have one item plugged into the modem at a time, any more than that and you need a router.

If you have to fiddle with the ethernet cable then it maybe be a faulty connection.

Did you get a USB connector from NTL? If you did, this should have a sticker on it with a mac-address. Put this mac address into your xbox360 settings. Then power down everything like before. I used to have a USB connection which was not that good. You're best off fitting your own network card into your PC, which is far more reliable.

Re: Connection for Xbox live 360

As I mentioned in an eariler post the modem wasn't designed for the USB and ethernet at the same time. If you have a PC and console then you would benefit from the purchase of a router. This will allow you to use everything together with no connection problems.

I'm guessing here that if he connect's via USB his PC hasn't got an ethernet card fitted ?

ok he needs to get a network card and a router. This would be the easist way to solve his connection problems.
