Question XBOX360 DVD Playback problem?

Just started to use the Xbox360 to play DVD movies and I've found that on some DVD's the picture has an annoying flickering to it in parts. The xbox360 is connected to a normal wide screen tv with the advanced scart lead. Has anybody else had similar problem's or know's about any related articles on the web about this?

Cheers.

Re: XBOX360 DVD Playback problem?

R2 disks on an R2 player?

My TV does this when it is in PAL60 mode (autoswitched) playing back R1 disks. More noticable on some than others.

This is on a panasonic DVD player. I think it is the TV not the player.

Playing Region 2 (European) DVD's and the Xbox360 is set for Region 2. The PAL setting is set to 60. Never had a problem with this setting when playing games on the TV. Will try setting it to PAL 50 with the DVD's that have the problem and see if it makes a difference.

Let us know how you get on m8, as my 360 likes to stutter slightly when playing R2 DVD's.

PAL50 is the naitive resolution / format for your TV so should be the one it works best in.

Re: XBOX360 DVD Playback problem?

I've seen this too (on one R2 DVD over Xmas) - however don't really use the 360 as DVD player (as I have a good JVC multiregion one). So haven't tried several DVD's or settings

But interested to know the outcome to this

Just to let you know I've not had time to try the 'new' setting yet.... but will post as soon as possible. Had a similar problem to this but worse with a Curry's DVD player that hated anything that was on a Warner label. Never got it sorted as a 'fix' or 'patch' for the dvd player was never made available. Didn't get my money back either! Never shopped there again.

Just tried the PAL 50 setting and it seems to have worked, no flickering with the problem DVD's. Strange that the PAL 60 works fine with other DVD's and games though. Oh well!

Re: XBOX360 DVD Playback problem?

I find if you look hard you will see it on all DVDs from that source, just some are more perceptable than others, blue skies, CGI etc. You would probably see it if you paused a game and looked at the screen but as you are looking at the screen differently on a game you probably just miss it happening.
