Some FPS deserved to be played with the Mouse and Keyboard
Hi guys,
How do we feel about this subject. Don't some of you ever get the feeling when playing FPS on the XBOX or the 360 feel , man this should be played with a mouse and keyboard.
I mean playing doom3 on my mates suped pc and then playing the xbox version with the pads just didnt feel the same. Same goes for Half Life 2.

I understand what you mean, IO play COD on the PC and my GF thought I'd like a copy on the PS2. Its just soo much harder than the PC version to aim and shoot.

I play on the PC and would really struggle to use pads I think. I tried playing Clancy on the old Xbox but couldn't get used to it at all.

I disagree, in fact I prefer a controller. The keyboard is really designed for typing, not gaming. Also, a mouse and keyboard is one analog control mechanism (the mouse) and one digital (the keyboard), wheres control pads have two analogue sticks. This gives you more control of the game. I don't understand what is better about a mouse and keyboard.

Well each to their own mate. but the mouse is far more acurate and easier to use for aiming in FPS. I can use the pad really well also, but I feel the mouse is far superior.

Mind you, the sticks on all the game pads I have used have been (IMO) too small, and difficult to use.

Re: Some FPS deserved to be played with the Mouse and Keyboard
Mouse and keyboard has been proven time and time again to be far and away the most accurate control method for FPS's.
On the plus side, it shouldn't be too hard to incorporate mouse and keyboard usage (you can use a keyboard for typing out msg's etc in the dashboard already) into future games titles.

Does not sound like you have played many FPS on a PC then, the keyboard and mouse are far superior, and more natural. The mouse is set to free look and it is much easier and quicker to move and focus within the game area, because when you press the key to move forward you move in the direction that you are looking/Aiming you should try it. I use both pads for the xbox and keyboard/mouse for Pc. The pad usually compensates by for example in COD2 if you click the left tricker whilst shooting it "snaps to the next target" to speed things up/ make it easier. But at the end of the day its what you are used to or what you prefer that counts. I have COD2 for the 360 and the PC and i prefer the PC personally.

Re: Some FPS deserved to be played with the Mouse and Keyboard
Well, I have a PC and I prefer play FPS with a joypad (not on PC, on XBox) - mainly from a comfort point of view.
And obviously, if you have an online deathmatch between a team of joypad users and keyboard/mouse users the latter will clean up. This doesn't prove that it is an overall better control method - just that it is easier to aim - but who wants games to be easy?
I played Halo on the PC after playing it to death on the Xbox and it just felt too easy to pick off headshots and I had to ramp up the difficulty just to have a decent game. Also, I couldn't believe how much easier FPS games became once I finally invested in an optical mouse.
Basically, if a game is designed to played with a mouse then that is how it should be played and vice versa with games for joypads. That's one of the things I hate about online PC gaming. You just know that there a guys out there with specialist gaming equipment like variable DPI mouses/mice(?) and configurable keyboards.
I'm happy with my Xbox live FPS - so much easier. Just don't challenge me to a game with your mouse and keyboard because we all know what'll happen...
