Internet Explorer on the Xbox 360

This week I had an big update for the 360, but nothing has appeared to change, I guess its something that iminent.

Could it be IE at last, I mean the PS3 & Wii both have web browsers.

Both the 360 and IE are owned by Microsoft and yet I'm still waiting for it to appear on the 360.

There was a solution but that required a PC turned on which is pointless cause if the PC was on I'ld use that.

Has anybody read or heard what this new update is for? I've heard a Windows 7/8 dashboard.

Re: Internet Explorer on the Xbox 360

No browser as such but 'Bing' search is going to be added, however I think that is supposed to be dumbed down to only search for media and apps from various 'partners'.

I guess we'll find out mid November ..or just before if you signed up to the preview

Edit: The update thatyou received would have just been to "prepare" for the new dashboard

Your going to be waiting a very long time, the second they add IE they will loose a portion of people buying Windows for both game compatibility and obvious the browser.

I for one wouldnt need a Windows based PC if they added IE, Microsoft know this and hence have resisted putting it in there as I wouldnt be the only person to adopt that attitude.

As for the update itself - I noticed this, usually an update this big is pre-install for stuff like the iPlayer we are supposed to be getting. There is a big update coming I do know, intergreating free tv stuff and a few other things. Nothing really that great. Im sure if you google it, you will find more. I cant remember exactly what else is included, but its nothing amazing.

Re: Internet Explorer on the Xbox 360

I very much doubt MS would ever give the 360 a browser.

This link details what the recent update did, and what the main Fall 2011 update due in November will do:
