Help with original xbox

Hi all,
I was given an original xbox by my brother with about 6 games, TV lead (12 more games to come) but no power lead or controllers.
Having found out that the power lead is a simple hifi type lead, I then sourced two controllers but after excitedly cleaning them up and going to plug them in I then discovered the concept of 'breakaway leads'!!!
I'm starting to wonder at what point to give up on this as I know it's an ancient console etc but only had it because it was free (can't afford an XBox 360 with games).
I'm hoping the breakaway cables will be all I need now, as the thing does come on but I can't do anything on it yet. Can anyone help me please by advising if these are for the original xbox or the xbox 360:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OFFICIAL-BREAK...item33678116c7

Still more than I was hoping to pay as the controllers cost me around a fiver for the pair... I suppose the 18 games would be worth something and be nice to play.
Of course, if anyone out there has a couple of these breakaway cables and fancies selling them that would be very nice

Re: Help with original xbox

They look like they're for the original Xbox.

I still have my old Xbox in the wardrobe. I'll try & remember to dig it out & have a look. I'm not sure what accessories I have left, but you're welcome to them for just the P&P cost.

Re: Help with original xbox

Many thanks Matt D, the only things I need now are those two breakaway leads to connect the controllers to the console. I wouldn't want to break up a complete XBox set up for those cables as it wouldn't then be any use to you then I imagine? If you did have for any reason those cables or controllers spare and you didn't mind splitting up the console and it's accessories that would be great though as it would be nice to try out all the games we've got with it. Don't worry too much though otherwise as I could always go for those ones on ebay (maybe a best offer) to save you splitting up your console and accessories.

Re: Help with original xbox

Original xbox's are all second hand consoles now and sell very cheap as do the accessories from any market stall or something similar.

Assuming you have access to some market that has a second hand games stall you can expect to find things very cheap! I've seen 360 games sell for a puny £1 in those places so keep an eye out for stuff like this to pick up cheap games!

On the note of the newer xbox (360) I've seen these go for less than £30 on gumtree.

Lastly there are a lot of non-official xbox controllers that don't have a breakaway cable and just plug directly into the xbox, this may be a simpler option for you

Never used this site before, but after a google search I think these guys sell what you're looking for

I hope you have the original Splintercell and an 'Auto-Installer Deluxe' disk with that old Xbox

Re: Help with original xbox

Many thanks all, I'll still maybe look out for the non-official controllers that plug straight in. That cable on that link looks great as they're alot cheaper than the ones on ebay, are they definitely the right thing as they seem very long - 2 metres? I was thinking the cables with the controllers are about 2 metres long so I'd be able to play from another room almost!
