Re: 250GB HDD (for fat consoles)

Don't know why MS didn't do the same as Sony and just use a laptop drive

Actually thinking about it, yes I do. Never mind lol

Microsoft has always used 'laptop drives' for the 360

Re: 250GB HDD (for fat consoles)

I thought that was a cracking price for the drive personally, so much so that I snapped one up this morning

I think the point is that if MS allowed you to simply use any 2.5" SATA HDD (like Sony does for the PS3) it would be a lot cheaper as you would not be forced to pay MS' OTT prices.

That would be classed as modifying the hardware, which is against M$ Code of conduct and terms of use

Yes but this isnt Sony we're talking about, its Microsoft, and they do not permit the use of any other drives than the official drives that they sell.

TBH - so long as its from the manufacturer/model they use...they won't have any idea. Technically you aren't modifying the console...as the HDD is just an external peripheral on a fat 360 (much like 3rd party controllers etc) so I don't see it as breaking the TOS at all...
