Got my Slim delivered today.
So far it looks gorgeous! Will need to buy the transfer cable tomorrow.

Why? Don't you have a USB drive you could use instead?

Re: E3 2010: New Slimline Xbox360
I have a USB hard drive I could probably use, just thought the cable would be easier.
I take it I can re-use the Hard Drive as a normal PC drive afterwards?

The Cable is slightly easier, but is expensive for something you'll only use once.
If you instead use a USB flashdrive or USB HDD, & prep. it as 360 storage, you can use it to transfer your content, & use it again & again for general 360 storage or format it for re-using on your PC.
The max. size for USB storage is 16GB, but you can use a bigger drive than that, it just makes a 360 specific 16GB section.
I used a 16GB drive to transfer all my saves, & all my DLC, when I moved from an Elite to a Slim. All I needed to do afterwards was use the licence transfer tool, & also re-install the game discs.
Beware: there are some saves which cannot be moved using USB, however I didn't have that problem with any of mine.

Any idea if anyone is still doing swaps for an old xbox in exchange?

Re: E3 2010: New Slimline Xbox360
GAME etc. always take old consoles for trade-in, however the trade-in price of an old 360 will now be far less than the trade-in price a couple of months ago when the Slim launched.
I got £100 for my Elite when I traded it for a Slim... I think the current credit they offer is maybe only £60 now... even less for a Premium.

Re: E3 2010: New Slimline Xbox360
Argggghhhhhhh
Plugged it all in and getting the message no storage device found.
I have switched the console off and unplugged, removed the HDD and tried to plug back in however the console still won't detect it!
Sounds like it clicks into place but I don't think the actual HDD connectors are making contact with the console.

Yeah they are struggling to shift them now, especially with the £149 4gig machine available. As soon as you walk in they're over telling you about their pre-owned machines that "do the same games" and "come with a 1yr warranty"... .... no thanks!

Always good to have a spare Xbox, for when the inevitable happens
