New 360 Elite - Not liking HDMI Cable

So... I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my ageing Premium 20GB to the 120GB Elite.

However, there seems to be an issue with it using an HDMI cable.

It doesn't seem to detect my HDMI cable is plugged in (get power light but no green rings on console) and a "No Signal" from the TV.

I have the old HD rated Component cable and plugged that in using the "HD" switch on the cable and its running HD through that.

I'm just wondering, (as I'm new to the HDMI world) if theres more chance of the cable being duff than the 360's port? I'd be highly miffed if the 360 was duff as I've just used my transfer cable kit to put all my saves etc onto the new HDD. I hope I don't need to send it back to Amazon with the HDD as I'd lose all of my saves!

Re: New 360 Elite - Not liking HDMI Cable

Maybe you need to reset the display settings?

Also:

Do you have something else you can test the HDMI cable with?

Do you have something else you can test the TV's HDMI socket with?

This may sound like I am taking the micky, but are you sure you've selected the right HMDI input on the telly?

I dont think the xbox will switch on unless it detects the connection.

Again, no - unfortunately not.

My Plan of action is as follows:

1. My mate has kindly lent me his known good HDMI cable that he uses for his X360.
2. Test old cable with my other HDMI TV and Xbox (and also with new lent cable).
3. Scream and stamp my feet if its the Xbox that's at fault

Yes as that particular TV only has one HDMI socket and input in the TV software....

Thanks for pointing that out though.

Just been playing and I've figured out its the TVs HDMI port at fault which isn't ideal....but at least it isn't the new 360

Re: New 360 Elite - Not liking HDMI Cable

Just thought I'd post an update...

As it was the TV at fault (An LG 22" LCD TV/Monitor combo) it happened to have 36months Parts & Labour warranty on it, so its being replaced today (I only phoned LG CS yesterday) so I'm happy now
