XBox 360 Netgear WGT624v3 NAT uPnP problems

I've got problems with XBL twice it kicked me out of COD:MW2, when I checked my network settings on the XBox it was on auto. I was also getting a problem saying NAT was moderate.

I put settings on manual to match the Port Forwarding settings in the router. But it will not connect to the router.

Whats going on?

In WAN setup on the router would adding the XBox's IP to the Default DMZ Server help

---------- Post added at 23:28 ---------- Previous post was at 22:47 ----------

Well I set the DMZ and lost my connection I just spent the best part of 40mins getting by router back.

Are you wired or wireless just out of curiosity, did you put the xbox ip address in the dmz, after you had assigned a static ip for it in the router settings?.

If not could you try this and then power cycle everything, only I've noticed with some of my old routers they don't always work strait away after you've made alterations until you reboot them.

Re: XBox 360 Netgear WGT624v3 NAT uPnP problems

I'm using wireless,

I did try and setup my xbox with a statc IP but it resused to talk to the router, I had triple checked the settings.

Setting the DMZ to IP killed all my wireless laptop connections.

I just cannot see how to change the NAT to open for the xbox.

It did work before my xbox RROD and was sent of for repair.

A strange one it would seem, I don't have much experience with wireless connections as all my consoles are wired apart from one.

Also I have never assigned static ip's to wireless devices before. Its not possible is it that youve chose an IP address that is being shared with another connection, e.g. your laptop, so this might be causing some sort of conflict.

When I do mine I tend use IP address's that are no where near the others for eg if the router automatically starts with the first connected device using 192.168.1.1 then I set up my consoles using 192.168.1.20,

So because I know that I only use 7 or 8 ip address's max setting the last value to 20 is well out the way of the other devices, so no conflict can occur.

I,m no expert so I may be talking nonsense but this is what I do to avoid issues.

I suppose its possible your router is acting up and not actually doing what your asking it to do.

Re: XBox 360 Netgear WGT624v3 NAT uPnP problems

I think I solved it.

In the Xbox there are two settings one is for the IP, the other is setting auto DNS, I change the later to manual and set the primary DNS to the same IP as my router, and COD:MW2 report NATs OPEN.
