Xbox 360 display (and wifi / network) probs

Ok, so ive just traded in my premium for an Elite, and very nice it is too. However I have a picture on my tv using the component cable supplied but it is black and white, when its supposed to be colour. I have sound, and have tried the picture connector (yellow) in every available slot that I have, but can only get a picture on one, what am I doing wrong?

re: Xbox 360 display (and wifi / network) probs

If the cable has a yellow connector, it is not a component cable. It is a composite video cable.

re: Xbox 360 display (and wifi / network) probs

That's odd.... My xbox came with a cable that did both. But there was a switch down one side you have to choose TV or HDTV and then either plug the composite OR component connections into the tv.

My yellow (composite) cable hangs down the back of the rest of the cable (loose) and I use the component connectors on the same cable.

re: Xbox 360 display (and wifi / network) probs

I have the cable that has the RGB (red, green and blue) going to the component input (Red, Green and Blue)on the TV and the red and white for the sound, the yellow is surplus to requirements when using component afaik.

I presume you cant use HDMI for what ever reason like myself, I use turtle beach head phones which don't allow the use of HDMI unfortunately.

As mentioned just try removing the yellow one and make sure you RGB cable is going into the RGB (component) input on your TV and you should be good to go.

I presume you have a HD ready TV ?

I,m surprised the Elite didn't come with component cables anyway

So did mine.

But, the Elites no longer come with the HDMI lead, since sometime before Christmas I think.
Microsoft have also started to charge for the HDD transfer kit now too, when they used to send it out free to those who 'upgraded' to an Elite who requested one

re: Xbox 360 display (and wifi / network) probs

Are you connecting automatically on the xbox, I,m just guessing but if you've bought a pre-owned console it might have been manually configured by the previous owner.

re: Xbox 360 display (and wifi / network) probs

sorry I cant help you anymore MadGamer, Ive not had this problem before.

I presume you have scanned for wireless networks, found yours ok, input your passphrase or WEP key, then you've tried to connect to xbox live and its failed at the IP stage.

sounds like somethings not right with your router to me,,,

I,m going home now so all I can suggest is Google it and see what comes back.

I take it you cant try wired just to see if it connects ok.

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted
