How to transfer from one hd to another?

I currently have the premium Xbox 360 and I am looking to trade that in at xmas and combine it with money I am getting to get an Elite.

How would I get my stuff off the premium Hardrive and put it on the Elite one?

Would I need to have two xboxes at one time?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

If you have a Computer you could connect it up to that and transfer/backup all your data and then transfer back once you have a new system. Failing that your could use a memory dongle to back all the data up via usb if you have one. All depends on how much content you have. Would you know the size of the files?

Re: How to transfer from one hd to another?

The only 100% safe way to transfer is to be in possession of both HDs and to use the MS transfer cable and software.

The second way is to have a memory unit and to transfer all your saved games onto this. Reclaim your Gamer Tag on the new hard disc and then copy across all your saved games. You will also have to re-download all your marketplace stuff again doing it this way.

Re: How to transfer from one hd to another?

Just had to buy a transfer cable from Microsoft. Cost me £11.54.

To be honest I am kind of shocked at this. I just paid £200 for a console and £35 odd a year for live. I am sure they could give these things away

Re: How to transfer from one hd to another?

I thought they gave the transfer kit away for free if you contacted them directly?
