x box problem

Hi x can some one help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im not very good with computers etc and ive just bought an adapter for my sons x box and it wont connect to the router, it finds it but then when i do a test it fails!!!!! Its really confusing me and my son is getting upset over it, can any one help?????????

You should go to Network settings in the Xbox Dashboard. Enter the WEP / WP / WPA 2 key, which will be provided on your router. Enter the key and the connector, should start to acquire the IP's etc

Have a look at this page on the MS site.
You will need to know what security your router is using - is it a VM supplied router and if so which one? The MS page has some hints on how to find the router config.

xbox to my router

I have been trying for several days to connedt my x box to my tp-link wireless router with no success!!!!!!!!! I have done every thing said to do it i:e ive opened ports and added the xbox address and rebooted it loads of times, it finds the router but will not connect, can somebody please help me as its for my young son and was bought for his birthday pressy and i have cod 6 for xmas for him and i want the console up in his room and not on the tv downstairs. PLEASE PLEASE someone help

(If not already solved)

Have you 100% got Xbox Live Gold Membership?
I presume, you have the wireless adapter?
Is it a genuine Wireless adapter for the Xbox?
When you run the Network test, what does it fail on?
