Re: x-box 360 advice needed
Go for the Elite - the Hard Drives are quite expensive if you were to buy an Arcade and add a HDD at a later date.
I'm considering purchasing an Elite (even though I have the 20gb Premium console) as the Elite I would get would have an HDMI port and a HDD 6x larger.

No 360 has built in wireless, you have to buy an adapter. He should be able to use his PC monitor, although I don't know which monitor he has so I can't really confirm.

guess my link to the actual information was missed then
The wireless is mentioned as an accessory so its not in the box and it will depend on your monitor and the inputs it has but if they match then it will be fine

Re: x-box 360 advice needed
To connect to a monitor (or a tv with standard VGA/HDMI input) you would need one of these: Xbox 360 High Definition VGA Cable (Xbox 360): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games for VGA or just a Standard HDMI lead if the monitor has HDMI
And also as Zing stated the wireless is an accessory for about £40.
Zing - yes I missed your link

Re: x-box 360 advice needed
The wireless adapter is around £45-£50 and I know the HDD for the arcade model is extremely expensive for what it is (£62.99 for a 120Gb on Amazon )

if the monitor has HDMI you only need a HDMI cable dont ya?
although you will need audio if your screen dont have it. I posted a youtube tutorial on how to make one on the cheap out somewhere on here lol

Re: x-box 360 advice needed
Bare in mind as you have the 50Mb the current wireless adaptor is on G, the new one which is out soon is N, you can pre order it from play.com.
Plus your best of getting a Xbox with a HD as there is lots of demos and things to play with and download and it can get annoying if you can't even save them.

Re: x-box 360 advice needed
Marty,
it might be worth keeping an eye on HotUKDeals - Deals - All
A number of the supermarkets and videogame stores have been discounting stuff of late, you might be able to save yourself a few pounds when the new n adapter is out.
Hope this helps.. Xmas can be such an expensive time

Re: x-box 360 advice needed
You don't 'need' the MS adapter - as I've mentioned in a couple of threads, I use an Edimax wireless bridge with my 360 - the 360 thinks it's wired (ie no drivers) and the bridge handles the wireless traffic. Only about £25 for a G-mode bridge.
