xbox live sign in account

hi,

as we have moved isp from btopenworld to Vm i need to change my sons xbox live login so he can get the update e-mails etc.

xbox support took me through the procedure BUT when it came to using my sons VM e-mail address the xbox system rejected it.

is it correct you cant use VM as a xbox live login ???

I'm not 100% sure but the email might need to be linked to a Windows live ID, have a look at the link below.

you can set a contact email that can be different to the sign in Email/Live ID/MSN Passport

Short answer = You can use a VM email as a login.

I have mine and my partners email setup for our Gamertags. All the MS emails come to us directly to our VM email account, which in turn we have to use to login to xbox.co.uk.

I had to create a new account, but it does ask if you want to use hotmail.com / hotmail.co.uk /live.co.uk OR provide your own email address. Then you transfer your MS account to use your new email addy.
