well i have recently wanted to get an xbox 360 after getting bored oof psp, and im getting one for christmas, my step dad already has one but i want one for myself, basically i want to know if i can connect live to his xbox and then when i get mine, would i be able to disconnect from his xbox and then connect to mine?.. with the SAME xbox 12 month contract?

The Live subscription is for a username(gamertag), not the xbox. So, you should be ok to get a subscription and use your stepdad's xbox with the subscription on your gamertag. When you get your own xbox, you recover your gamertag on your xbox and all the info for it will be transferred down from the xbox network. You will have to copy your saved games to a memory module is you want to copy any across to your new xbox.
