Re: Sky Player on the Xbox 360
Question. Say I had a subscription and I wanted to watch something with a friend over XBL. Would it work if he didn't have a Sky subscription?

Ah, I'm glad I have good ol' Sky BB with its Unlimited Usage, no Fair Use Policy, and no traffic shaping/throttling/management

I doubt it.
You need either a Sky TV subscription, or a Sky Player subscription. They're hardly going to let people watch stuff if they have no Sky subscription of any kind.

Re: Sky Player on the Xbox 360
Well, it was due to launch today.
And it did... only to then vanish from the NXE after people had problems actually logging in & using it
Being "worked on" apparently

Re: Sky Player on the Xbox 360
Well.....
I was watching Sky Player through the Internet, as part of my standard Sky subscription, but since they opened it up to you xBox ruffians it's been just about unwatchable.
Slow, constantly buffereing, sometimes losing connections.....just like being back at work

Microsoft has said that it is "investigating" the technical problems delaying the launch of Sky Player on Xbox Live.
Offering live and on-demand content, the service was initially scheduled to go live at 10am this morning.
However, there have been widespread reports that clicking on the Sky Player icon currently available on Xbox Live simply brings up a rolling advert for the service and a message which says, "Coming later today".
Update: Microsoft has confirmed that the Sky Player service has now been removed from Xbox Live but will hopefully launch tomorrow (today)

Re: Sky Player on the Xbox 360
I just put my xbox on to watch a dvd and it tells me there is an update. It's downloading it now, slowly.... very slowly
Maybe it's the player.

Re: Sky Player on the Xbox 360
Maybe this will help.
Quote:
While the Xbox 360 Sky Player apparently launched in the UK yesterday as planned, things veered away from the plan almost immediately thereafter. The service was "suspended" shortly after launch, for what must be the best possible problem in Microsoft's eyes: too many subscribers.
"Unfortunately due to the unprecedented levels of simultaneous demand," a statement on Xbox.com reads, "we did not have the capacity to satisfy all service requests and therefore temporarily suspended all access to the service." The service is being reinstated in phases today, presumably with some upgrades in place to deal with the demand.

Re: Sky Player on the Xbox 360
The update which some people have had is nothing to do with the Sky Player: it is purely to give WPA2 support for the official WiFi adapter.
The Sky Player did start being offered for download again today, in phases. I got it, at last, earlier this evening.
However, like yesterday, it seems to have collapsed under the strain
