XBOX360 Wireless Adapter
Does anyone know if there are any 3rd party wireless adapters for the 360 ? The official MS product is a stupid price, and given that they have re engineered the hardware you would have thought that it would be built in by now.

Re: XBOX360 Wireless Adapter
I use an Edimax wireless access point in Bridge mode - as per this thread. Only cost about £20 from Novatech.
The 360 thinks it is using a wired connection and the access point converts the Ethernet to Wifi.

Re: XBOX360 Wireless Adapter
Ive got one and its useless for first person shootem ups, it wasnt that expensive either.
you might be able to get a second hand one off ebay.
However there is no substitute for a cable in my gaming experience.
sorry it doesn't help your original question, just giving my 2 penneth for what its worth.

Maybe thats the key, mine was upstairs and the router down, it seems to run very slow for me and playing cod4 and 5 was almost unplayable when it eventually let me join a game.

Just out of curiosity what security do you run on your wireless set up. I tried mine on WEP just to get it to work but was told not too as its not that secure these days.

WPA and AES it's set to. It doesn't support WPA2, atleast it didn't 3 years or so ago. WEP is terrible for security so you were advised correctly.

Thanks Snoopz, I might give that a go, the wife is spending more time on my console than I am these days, so I could with setting up one of my spare consoles for her upstairs.
I will give it another go me thinks.

Re: XBOX360 Wireless Adapter
Thanks all,
Positive replies as usual from this forum
We have two boys each with their own console ! At the moment I am looking more for system link functionality than on line gaming.
I might actually try and run a cable through the loft actually. I assume if you cable connect two consoles to router you can still do system link play or do
they need a direct console to console connection?
On a second point, any good hints for other 360 forums, especially those with some "intelligence".
Thanks again

Ive never used system link personally, but as long as both your lads have their own gold membership to xbox live, and are connected directly to your router either wired or wireless, they will be able to play in the same games at the same time.
As long as they both have copies of the same game etc.
many people use wireless connections for their xbox's with little or no issues. But for me it wasn't good enough and for the sake of a little extra work and a couple of patch leads to your router, its worth it.
It will even be cheaper which is always a bonus.

Re: XBOX360 Wireless Adapter
According to this you can use either direct cable or a router for system link play - as long as the game supports it.

I have mine on WPA.
One thing to be aware though. The 360 wireless adaptor will not connect to an Apple router if using WPA. Luckily, being on ADSL, I also have a a ADSL Modem/Router which can do wireless.
