Re: xbox 360 connected to pc monitor

Hello and to the forums.

Connecting to your Pc monitor is pretty simple.
What type of monitor do you have?
A VGA cable should be fine. Make sure it is one that fits your XBox 360.
If you only have one port on your monitor you can buy a VGA switch to hop between the two or just pull one cable out each time you want to use the VGA port.

As for connecting to XBox Live it is an ethernet cable you will need.
Hook it up to your modem or router.

A HDMI lead is for video. If you have HDMI connection on your TV or monitor you can connect this way.

Re: xbox 360 connected to pc monitor

I think you are getting muddled up with your terminology.

VGA, HDMI are leads that can connect graphics (picture) sockets between the console, computer, and such like and the display (computer monitor / TV). Which type you use depends on what connectors each device has.

Switches, routers, ethernet are all parts of the communications network that can distribute the data between computers, modems and consoles. This Article may explain some of those terms http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/94...em-router.html

Thanks, thats really helpful, i have seen the VGA cable pack on Amazon, will buy it now! If we have wireless broadband, do you still think the ethernet cable is required, just plugged into the PC? Thanks again.

looks like you have found the Xbox 360 VGA cable set, some of the aftermarket ones are MUCH cheaper than the MS one. so its worth looking around.

The xbox360 has a seperate wireless adapter at a greatly inflated price. if you can run an ethernet lead to your wirelesss router that would be better IMO.

If you want to connect your xbox and PC to the same monitor then you will need a simple video switch or KVM these are readily available from PC World, Maplins, and all the usual web outlets. they might look expensive but constantly swapping leads will cause premature wear on the monitor socket.
