Re: 360 is dead
Sitting ontop of a hot Sky box can't be good? You still have 3 years warranty on ring of death?

Re: 360 is dead
Shoudlnt be 2-3 weeks. Mine went to the repair centre in may and was back in my house in 8 days from the day i dropped it off at UPS . That included a weekend.
The warranty was extended to 3 years for RROD and E74 and unless its a launch console will still be well within warranty.
The process of getting it sorted was really pretty painless i found , not as painless of it never having died in the first place but still..
The sky HD box chucks the heat out the left hand vent which would be okay if it wasnt in a cabinet. Id move the 360 el;sewhere when ya get it back if ya can.

Re: 360 is dead
I've had 7 replacements - they are pretty quick 5 / 8 days max - personally, as others have said, move it off your sky box! Cant be good for it sitting there!

From the email they send:
Quote:
·Please package your console before this time.
·When UPS arrive, they will attach the label to the box immediately and take it away.
·Use a sturdy package that is well padded to help protect the contents during the shipping process. The service centre will return the repaired or replaced components to you in our own packaging.
·Write your full return address and the Service Request number on the outside of the package.
|
So, no. You can't just stick a label on it

Do Microsoft not send return labels via email any more? Been a long time since I last had to send mine in

That was my first thought too. Even if the Sky box has fans or some way of reducing it's heat, it's still a heat source sat directly under a console that has a known heat problem. A friend of mine had his 360 die because he put his Wii on top.
BTW Central, I notice your spring appears to have gone on the little flap over your USB ports. Mine did that too, although it was helped on it's way by my daughters tiny fingers!

Re: 360 is dead
I bought a flatpack cardboard postal box to send mine i. Wrapped it in bubble wrap and then filled the box with polystyrene chips..
Then stuck the UPS shipping label and a note with the return address ( ie mine ) on it as requested in the email.
Then dropped it off at ups and then sat back.
The tracking system on UPS and xbox.com was good and updated regularly.

... and when you get it back, put it somewhere else, on its own, with plenty of space around it.

Re: 360 is dead
I've had to send mine for repair twice. Both times i sent and received it back within a week.
It sucks that they need to be repaired at all, but the service in doing so is excellent.
