Sky coming to Xbox live..
This could go either in the XBOX forum, or the Other DTV services forum.
Sky are going to launch a DTV service on Xbox live. The service will include both live channels and PPV stuff.
Also, when watching sport, you will be able to invite friends to watch with you, your avatars will sit and watch the match, and you'll be able to talk with your friends via an xbox headset.
No details on costs or content yet (apart from if you are a sky subscriber, you'll need a multiroom subscription), but it does look good. I might even be tempted..

Re: Sky coming to Xbox live..
There is another thread here but as it's mainly using this news to call for Freesat to do more to introduce VOD, we can probably keep them separate for now ...

Re: Sky coming to Xbox live..
That sounds really good. I'm guessing it can only be used online though? By that I mean everything you watch has to be streamed? If that's true, then I'm buggered because I only have a 20GB monthly limit.

Why do you only have a 20GB monthly limit? It says in your info that you have 10meg VM! That dont have a limit! Just a slow down lol

Re: Sky coming to Xbox live..
The idea of relying on a Virgin cable connection to stream live TV is not terribly enticing. Virgin = the very definition of unstable, unreliable "broadband".

Sky and Microsoft have announced that from this autumn, millions of Xbox owners in the UK and Ireland will have the opportunity to access Sky Player, Sky’s online TV service, through their broadband-enabled games consoles.
(snip)
When the service launches later this year, Sky Player will be available in the following ways:
* For a customer joining Sky through their Xbox, Sky Player TV will offer a wide range of linear TV channels as well as a comprehensive library of on-demand content. A number of subscription packages will be available, as will the opportunity to access programming on a pay-per-view basis.
* Xbox owners who already subscribe to Sky TV will now be able to access Sky Player’s on-demand services through their console, in addition to their PC or Mac. And for those customers who also subscribe to Sky Multiroom, Sky Broadband Max or Sky Player Multiroom, they will also be able to enjoy live TV via their console.

I have Sky TV & Sky BB Max, so I'm OK
Then again... my 360 & my Sky box are on the same TV, so it doesn't really matter, LOL.

Re: Sky coming to Xbox live..
Maybe us poor VM customers might get a chance to view some HD through this service, its got to be quicker than waiting for VM's fabled forever "coming soon" HD channels.

Wont be any HD. From what ive read elsewhere its going to be SD only. Presumably to reduce bandwidth.
Tech Radar - hands on
I would have thought if it was going to be HD theyd have made a big fusss and had it all over the demo theyve set up but in the pics it only mentions , for example , Sky Sports not Sports HD.
I can see why people would want to watch games like that with their mates if they dont have HD but in the past ive just set up parties and invited mates in and we've watched it in HD on our own subcriptions.
Its a great idea though.

More likely to stop the Sky HD STB from being irrelevant.
