Converting media files for xbox360
I've converted some of my dvd's to avi's and when I play them from a usb stick I get told that the xbox can't play the video with an error code.
Once I googled the error code I get told it's because I am using an older codec that is not supported by the xbox so I was wondering if anyone knows how to convert these files to use on an xbox via a usb stick?
Thanks

Re: Converting media files for xbox360
I'm not sure if that's a software suggestion (if so I can't find it) or if that's what I should convert the media files to (If so I don't know how to do that).
Any more information/advice please?
And thanks for replying

Re: Converting media files for xbox360
you should update the codecs on your xbox
http://www.afreecodec.com/904/codecs...-media-center/
use this site or similar
you say you can convert to dvd to avi so you should be ok for the converter as xbox should read avi files just update the codecs on your xbox

Re: Converting media files for xbox360
That link claims to be for codecs for Xbox Media Centre.

Are you using an Xbox 360?
What are you using to convert your DVDs?

Re: Converting media files for xbox360
It was a while ago but I remember using DVD Decrypter (with anydvd running in the background) and then passing it through Audio Gordian.
It was the way a mate taught me to make avi's

Re: Converting media files for xbox360
Gordian should normally do the trick, so perhaps it's set to use something the 360 doesn't support.
This is what the 360 supports:
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/u...aybackfaq.aspx
You could also try AutoMKV - it can convert to & from a variety of containers & codecs, including DVD > H.264 within .mp4 or Xvid within .avi

Re: Converting media files for xbox360
Thanks for all the advice guys.
I have a feeling it's something that I have done wrong as I used to use a really old set of codecs when I used my old pc (talking about codecs from around 2002) so it might be them.
I plan on just re-ripping the dvd's and using upto date vista codecs. Hopefully that should work judging by the list on that site.
Thanks for the suggestion of super Hom3r it looks really useful!
