no sound from xbox 360 when plugged into sky box

i have an xbox 360 plugged into a standard sky box which is then connected to a tv, the picture is fine but there is no sound. there is no problem with picture and sound when watching sky and also there is no problem with picture and sound when the xbox is connected directly into the tv. any ideas? thanks in advance.

How is the 360 connected to the Sky Box?
How is the Sky box connected to the telly, I would assume scart?

hi, thanks for quick response, yes i am using a scart lead from the sky box to the tv and the phono leads with a scart converter from the xbox to the sky box

I think, with respect, you are confusing things a little here. I would presume, you only have one scart on your telly or something?

Personally, If you have 2 scarts, plug the 360 into the second one, or, if you don't have 2 scarts, plug the red, white and yellow, direct into the telly, if it has those.

sorry if im confusing you, yea unfortunately i only have on scart connection on the tv.
there is a white and a yellow connection on the back of the tv so the sound would be in mono which isnt so good but if its the easiest fix i will use that. do you know if i can set the xbox to mono sound?

How many speakers does the TV have, normally if you only have one audio channel input, the TV is generally mono anyway

i see you point but if i only plug one phono plug in and the xbox is still outputting in stereo i will only get the sound from one channel
