Mainboard for a 360?
A friend of mines son has decided to mod his 360 by cutting a hole in the side and installing a blue led fan.
He did however unplug the fan with the box still running, now, the box boots up but the fan doesn`t run. Any ideas anyone.?

To add insult to injury, he has also voided the warranty, which means Microsoft wont fix it.

Surely they would only see it as a mod, they should fix it IMHO.

Re: Mainboard for a 360?
Altering the case or even opening it up will invalidate the warranty ....
If the fan doesn't work then it's either a case of the fan is bust, or the driver transistor has gone (he probably shorted it out)... In the first instance get a new fan, in the 2nd instance find a new power point (perhaps the HDD power) the source from...

No Rob, Actually it is a friend of mines son. I don`t own a 360. I prefer a PC platform for gaming.
I think he blew the mobo in the box personally. Any ideas where i can get him a new one? I havn`t googled it yet.
Cheers all.

Cheers Kymmy, the fans work ok out of the case but not powered up inside it. I think that you`re right in saying that he shorted something out. If it was a pc i could fix it but not this time i think..

Re: Mainboard for a 360?
It may be less hassle just to pay the 60 quid for an out-of-warranty repair. It's not bad considering the carriage is included in the cost.

That's not what I was told when they tried to charge me to get my console fixed last time around. Maybe someone who's had a paid repair could clarify?

Re: Mainboard for a 360?
Hmmm am I reading this wrong ? I thought the problem was that a extra Blue LED fan was bought but now it wont work.
If thats the case then sending it back to MS for repair for £60 would be a bit crazy as the fan probably didnt even cost half that. Or am I wrong and something is broke in the console ?
