Halo 3 £9.99 at Argos
Halo 3 is currently only £9.99 at Argos! I might even pick myself up a copy at that price.

Re: Halo 3 £9.99 at Argos
Sorry to drag this thread from its ashes lol but with nothing comming out for a little while on Xbox I am thinking of going back and buying Halo 3 to try out.
My question is do you really need to play the first 2 in order to understand whats going on in the 3 ?
I admitt the Halo games for some reason never really got my attention but I've decided to give them a chance - Well the 3rd anyway.

Re: Halo 3 £9.99 at Argos
While not as bad as e.g. playing MGS4 without having ever played the previous Metal Gear games (something I did, lol - so I studied up 1st via Wiki & the Gametrailers retrospectives), I think a great deal of no. 3 really will make no sense at all if you haven't played the previous ones.
While you'd probably still enjoy the action, you'd get a lot more out of it if you knew what was going on.
I suppose you could at least read up on the story & characters of Halo 1 & 2 via Wikipedia or something.

Thanks for the reply Matt. Cant decide now if I should read up on it or just buy the other 2 aswell. I assume that they are compatible with the 360 the older ones ?

Yup, Halo 1 & 2 both work on the 360.
Halo 1 is available to download on the Marketplace as an "Xbox Original". Not sure how many "MS Points" they charge for "Originals".
Play.com has them both in stock at "PlayTrade" (second hand) for less than a tenner each.

Re: Halo 3 £9.99 at Argos
I'd go back an replay Halo 1/2 if they brought out achievements for them.
Otherwise I don't really see the point in playing them again to be honest :/

Re: Halo 3 £9.99 at Argos
I had this exact same dilema this week as I have just bought a 360 myself which came with Halo 2 & 3. After asking on another forum I came to the conclusion that as I wanted the full 360 experience on my first game I would start with Halo 3.
I'm glad I did TBH as I just read the back story on wikipedia as has been suggested and started playing Halo 3 (although I am very much playing catch up with modern games and want to get on to CoD 4&5 and GoW 1&2 sooner rather than later)
The advice I was given was if you value the story (and it is very good allegedly) but don't mind original Xbox graphics and the fact that you will have black bars down the sides of the screen if playing on a widescreen TV, then start with Halo 1.
If however you don't mind reading the story of 1 & 2 and want to play in full 360 glory then start with Halo 3.
It also depends on how much time you have for gaming as if like me you only get a few hours here and there each week then it would take months to wade through all 3 games.
Hope this helps!!
