Hi,

can anyone tell me how to get XBOX Live going with my Virgin Broadband?

Engineer from VM is coming over tomorrow to install my modem for 10MB Broadband,can he help me out?

You're best off getting a router, e.g. -

That way, you can use the PC & the Xbox at the same time, without having to mess around swapping cables.


If you do a direct connection, you can only use one thing at a time - PC or Xbox. You also need to either clone the PC's MAC address onto the Xbox, or power cycle the modem each time you swap over.

For a direct connection, have a read of the following link. It's rather old, but the basic principles haven't changed:

Hi,

i tried,but to no avail,now the console asks me for the MTU.... the request fails when i check xbox live. As soon as i enter the MAC no., the IP address check fails....

could anyone give me a step by step guide?I have an STB...

STB? I thought you said in the first post that you were having a modem installed?



What settings have you used/tried so far?


You need to have the Xbox's IP address, DNS & Gateway set to Automatic.

Find the MAC address of the PC's network card, & enter that in the MAC address section of the Xbox's network settings.

There are step by step instructions in the link I gave earlier.
