Your probably not far wrong there mate, let me take you 'all' to the place where 'it' began, Africa, land of the 'Black Man'. Racism is supposed to be the plague of the continent ( not so, and for another thread ) When I worked in South Africa, I often heard black South Africans calling other Black South Africans

Not a good word to a Black S.A guy / lady, but, they ( the black guys on site ) were using it in the same manner as the USA guys are doing, taking the phish outta 'the man' and using it for their own use.

You mean different races joking with each other, yeah?

I hear this stuff all the time when I'm playing CoD4. To me, it's either little kids who laugh at the word 'boobies', or Americans. I hardly hear Brits saying it, but it does annoy me like mad. If it gets too bad then I just take off my headset.

This is the bit that annoys me, i think i'm right in saying we're heavily educated in the UK as to what sayings/comments etc are regarded as PC and most people generally abide by this. Does the US have any political correctness? Cos the kids (and grown men also) seem to lack a certain amount of common sense/sensitivity for those they may be playing with online and seem to think its ok to be racist in anyone's company.

Why should you take your headset off? You should not feel compelled to do this - its all wrong and there is no way i will let my foster brother play online games in future because of this

It's the same on every online game. People who think it's funny to make racist remarks and degrading comments. I run a server on CS:S and if I get anyone on there making any hurtful remarks to other players it's an instant ban. I don't tolerate it, it's a game, you plat it, you don't play it to get some raging plonker starting arguments.

The most rediculous remarks I've ever seen was actually by a guy in his 30's - I don't want to blame it all on the kids...but I actually banned him and his entire clan from my server for what he was saying. I'm not even gonna go there.

The N word actually dates back over 2000 years and simply means black in latin

There is a slight difference. References to your hair colour (ginger ninja etc) are just that. The N word was originally used as a name for slaves. Thus, it could be said that by using the N word, we are reminding Black people that we once used them as slaves.

But thats symantics its still insulting to me as would be insulting someone because of their weight or there spots or whatever. Also I point you back to the fact they call each other by the N word so imo if I can not use that word and they can then thay are discriminating against me

Zing, there is a world of difference between 200 years of slavery, being treated as property, and then living with the aftermath of that (being second-rate citizens, not being allowed to vote/share facilities/schools/restaurants) for over a hundred years (and still continuing in some places)), and being spotty or ginger (again imho).

well dude I never kept a black man as a slave and neither did my dad or anyone in my family who I ever met so as far as im concerned its irrelevant. Also I seriously doubt any of those alive today were ever kept as slaves. Hey why dont we hold a grudge against the Italians for when they had us as slaves 2000 years ago.

It's easy (imho) for it to be irrelevant if it didn't happen to you or your family - please note what I said, the aftermath of slavery has been happening recently (apartheid in SA, separate facilities and lynchings in the USA within the last 40 years); these things happened to people, and the families of people, who are alive today, so it may not be as easy for them to consider it irrelevant.
