See post 4 by me & post 12 by Gareth.

Your contract is with the retailer (Comet), not the manufacturer (MS).

Even if you didn't have the extra insurance, you'd still be well within your rights to get Comet to sort it for you, instead of going the MS route.

To add to what Gareth said today & I said earlier...

Don't be put off by all the "ring of death" stuff on the net.

People always post if they have a problem, but not if things are fine. If everyone who had never had a problem with their 360 posted, there'd be far more "I've never had the ring of death" posts than there are "I've got the ring of death " posts.

I'm on my 2nd 360.

Hasn't put me off it though.

And if I knew back in December 2005 that my console may die on me after 18 months, I'd have still got one.

Re: 360 started having problems :(

Bit early yet.

I've read of some overheating issues, but I don't know how serious or how common they are. Haven't seen anything - yet - on forums etc. comparable to the "ring of death".

I just wish the 360 was as silent as the PS3 - apparently the PS3 is no louder than a Wii!

Yes it is a bit early to tell yet.

Also yes its very quiet. Does have a fan that only seems to kick in when the console becomes hot which does make a small amount of noise but not even close to the 360 sound.
