Offline achievements into new online ID?

Offline achievements into new online ID?
Ok - finally got my 360 online and created a new Silver GamerTag (ara60rn) - with the free 30 day trial.

One question is there anyway of merging my offline achievements with this new ID? eg on PGR3 I have completed career mode and have over 7million credits, but with my new ID I have nothing
Do I need to start from scratch with this ID?

I think you have to restart from scratch but don't quote me on that.

Ah - I think I understand now - I need to delete my new Gamertag from the HDD, and then recover it to my existing offline profile.

You could have upgraded your offline account to Gold without creating a new Gamertag.

Probably would have been easier, but my offline tag was 'Daddy'!
Doesn't look like simple works I deleted the Live profile, renamed my offline profile to the same as the Live one and tried to recover gamertag - did it link the two? No it copied the new Live profile on to the xbox, so I have two identically named profiles, one Live, one offline!
More research needed

Might just stick with a variation of the above, eg Arag0rn , assuming it's free!

You can change your gamertag on xbox live marketplace(?) for a price though...800 MS points See here:- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908658/en-us?sd=xbox

800 points is £6.80 by the way.

Yes, I noticed that - don't think I'm that attached to the gamertag!
Pity you can't just delete the new gamertag from Live for free
