Optical 5.1.
Hi everyone.
I'm currently in the process on getting my Premium Xbox 360 package for Christmas from my Mother! I'm going to buy a 5.1 surround sound kit. It's from Acoustic Solutions. It says Stereo, Optical and Co-axial inputs. I guess that means if I buy a cable with Optical in the end, it'll plug in right? Lol. I'm quite confused though. Is optical 1 or 2 inputs?

Oh at the end of the Component lead, there's a yellow and white cable. Is the white optical and what's the yellow then? I know the other 3 are for connecting to TV.

Re: Optical 5.1.
The optical connection runs from a little output in XBox end of the component/VGA cable to the optical input of your amp. You'll need an digital optical cable to connect the two.

Re: Optical 5.1.
That'll still be like the other one in the previous post - should have a little hole on the rear of the plug at the XBox-end, to connect one end of an Optical (TOSLINK) cable to.
Plugs on a typical lead:
3 plugs for Component video (reg, green, & blue RCA phono plugs)
Left & right audio plugs (a red RCA phono & a white RCA phono)
Composite video plug (a yellow RCA phono)

Re: Optical 5.1.
Out of curiosity, could you post a pic or link to the surround sound setup your buying. Im interested in going 5.1 but all the kits I look at come with a dvd player I dont need one of them.
Bit confused myself on set setups.

Re: Optical 5.1.
Thats one nice speaker set there, thats 600w peak though not rms, i almost thought it was as good as my £400 sony set! but then remembered mine is 6x100w rms.
Wonder why its xbox only though if it handles dolby digital it should be fine with a dvd player.
The others are indeed correct the optical connection point is on the xbox end of the cable. Unlike the original xbox all cables come with optical connections no need for a high def pack etc.

Thanks!

The completly white one is for sound, the completly red one is also for sound. The yellow one is for visual and the other 3 are only good if you have a hdtv

Im living in hope you never bought that cable!!! The cable that comes with the 360 has a optical audio output on it!
And, If your going to buy any cables for your 360 it should be the VGA cable, so that if youve got a HDTV you can get the best possible picture, and if you dont... you can play it on a PC monitor at normal resolutions like 1280x1024.
Please tell me you never bought that 3rd party peice of junk!!
