xbox 360, STB and ICS network connection

Hi

if this has been previously posted elsewhere then sorry, but couldn't find it :/

Bought an xbox 360 today and have used ICs to network it with my PC - running xp home sp2.

Anyway, when running through the network test the xbox completes everything with-out problem. IE finding IP address, etc. However, it stalls at connecting to XBOX live.

I am assuming that the xbox servers are up so this might be a problem with the ICS network and my STB. The one thought that I had - but I'm unsure - was that using ICS does the xbox use its own MAC address or - as its communicating via my PC if its the PCs MAC address that reaches the STB?

Any help would be appreciated as I'm now on my second packet of fags and I gave up smoking 3 months :P And I really don't fancy buying iether a router or unpluging the cable from the pc and sticking it in the xbox each.

Windows XP

To use ICS to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem configured to connect to the Internet.

Log on to your PC as Administrator or Owner.

In Windows XP, ICS is automatically loaded during installation.

On the taskbar, click Start, right-click My Network Places, and select Properties.

Right-click Local Area Connection.

On the shortcut menu, click Properties and click the Advanced tab.

Below Internet Connection Sharing, click the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.

Click OK.
The connection to the Internet is shared to your Xbox console.
Don't know whether the above will help you, got this from the xbox site.
