Most definitely! If I even think there’s a problem with BT or have any actual problems, I’ll post it on here. As a matter of interest, people I know who have their broadband with BT, that includes family, friends and work colleagues, have not had any problems with the service. I only know one person who was dissatisfied but that was nothing to do with the actual service; it was a billing issue, which has been resolved.

Just thought I'd mention that I downloaded two 6 - 9MB files succesfully from xbox live today, this was around mid-day. I then tried a large download from marketplace and once again the broadband connection failed, as it did even with a direct connection. So no change there then for NTL!

NTL modem ? Is this about them changing the software for the thing to a previous version that didn't work particularly well?

Shame you couldn't get a free NTL:250 modem off them as that might of sorted all your speed problems out.

Yeah, it might of, but will never know now. As you've probably read from other threads, when I phoned up to cancel NTL (after a half hour wait on the phone and being charged for the privilage!) they didn't offer anything, only the same old excuses.

There are one or two more Xbox live subscribers in the UK... hmm I don't know how many exactly but it must be in the mid six figures at least. Shame that NTL don't want our money!

Re: xbox live and lag problems
As promised, I would post any problems with BT – and this must be a first as I have not even had it installed …. Got a letter today from them confirming the service (phones and broadband) and installation on Friday 1st December. Looking at the letter they had put me down for option 2 instead of option 3, so I gave them a call. It then transpired that the installation would not take place until the 27th December! When I asked why as the letter even said the 1st, they said that I had told them to cancel the appointment for the 1st which is a big fat lie and they can now only install at the end of December. So, BT can’t even get the initial installation right and then lie about it – what hope have I got of them providing a service?!?! The up shot, told them to cancel and I’m now staying with NTL. Sometimes it’s better the devil you know !?! I’ve phoned NTL to let them know I wish to carry on with their service and fingers crossed I might be getting a new cable modem but won’t know till Wednesday after one of their broadband tech guy’s phones me.

Re: xbox live and lag problems
Hope you get a new modem like many other users which has fixed their speed problem. I'm sure if you make enough fuss you would get it for free anyway if they think it'll stop you leaving them.

Hope so but you never know with these things, a lot of people have been having problems and asking for a replacement cable modem recently. Fingers crossed anyway.

You ask to be put through to retentions and then demand a replacement modem or you quit. Well that's according to others here.

Re: xbox live and lag problems
Got a phone call last night from NTL broadband technician about the problems I'm having with downloads etc, he agreed that the cable modem was to blame and is sending me through the post one of the new cable modems to save any delays. He will phone back on Monday to help me set up the cable modem for use. Result!

Nice one!
Now that is unusual them sending a modem through the post! What happens if your signal levels need adjusting? Mind you when my Motorola had an accident *cough* the engineer just fitted one and went without checking anything.

Now would that be a mechanical accident or did it involve a very large capacitor?
