Gears of War - Game Thread
Wowowowowow!
What a game, im getting to grips with it now, this is the mutts.
Loving the duck and cover stuff, the chase cam and well, just the general devastation. Not played it online yet, just going through it on single player but the graphics are really good.
Well chuffed with this one, its actually living upto the hype.

This game is amazing. Been playing through single player and been playing online for the last hour.
The graphics are totally fantastic.

Re: Gears of War - Game Thread
Well im on Act 2... personally its ok and was worth the purchase. The only gripe I do have is the controls. I personally found them a little fiddley when in the heat of combat or when Im trying to get away from something. Easy mode isnt really that easy, but other then that a great game. 8/10 for me
Would of scored higher if it was a first person shooter, but the co-op makes up for that.

You will get used to the controls, i found them fiddly at first but its just getting used to what you can do and when you can do it.
I.E. Pressing A once (not holding) whilst near a wall or fence etc will hide you behind it, then use the left trigger to peer round (hold) then let go of the trigger to hide again. Finally pressing A once again releases you from hide position.
Once you get that its becomes a whole lot easier.

Re: Gears of War - Game Thread
Finally got to play this this afternoon.
OMG, it actually does live up to the hype
Brilliant game.
Currently on Act 2, after a bit of initial frustration with the Act 1 end-of-level-boss.
Awesome.
It's had excellent reviews all over the place too.
Metacritic currently has a 95% metascore for GoW.

Re: Gears of War - Game Thread
Ive complete it 2 times now... both solo and coop with my girlfriends dad. I take back what I said about wanting this to be 1st person. It was a nice change to be honest.
Excellent game...
Im now looking into playing this on Insane for the unlockable gamerpic.

Re: Gears of War - Game Thread
This game is awesome and plays beautifully with no slow down. Also the controls and movement speed are spot on.
Neon, get the boys together for some Tuesday night action as i'm up for it and haven't played online yet.

Re: Gears of War - Game Thread
Blimey! The end level boss General Raam is a tough challenge, still trying to nail him on single player casual. Hopefully will beat him sometime this evening, fingers crossed!

Its a short(ish) game but I suppose with the three difficulty levels, throw in a dash of multi-player and over forty achievements, its not bad value for money.
