Thumbs up Halo 2 Cheats

What are you going to do about modem and router exploit cheaters?

Cheaters Beware

As some of you are already aware, there are a number of players online (on all types of online games) who use a little-known modem exploit to cheat during games. Players who have experienced the nasty end of this will have seen mysterious things happen to say a flag or bomb while they've been dumped to the blue waiting screen, while Halo 2 attempts to reconnect. Or reappear and find that they've been killed by the person now mysteriously in the lead by five or six kills. Well, these cheaters are in specific violation of a number of terms of use for Xbox Live and they will now be banned for proven offenses.

That means they will lose access to their Xbox Live account in its entirety. We urge players to continue to use the in-game feedback system for players they genuinely believe to be cheating, but the more specific, accurate game data is tracked easily and comprehensively on Xbox Live servers. We know who is cheating. They will be dealt with. The cheaters know they are cheating and there is no way to do this accidentally. They should consider this a warning. Quit doing it or lose your Xbox Live account.

Oh, and I would LOVE to hear a justification for that exploit from one of the cheaters. Seriously, since by the very nature of the act, the Cheat isn't actually winning anything other than a bag of hate.

Re: Halo 2 Cheats

I assume then that this is a case of the host pulling the modem plug out, going round & killing the stationary opponents & then plugging back in...

That suck's, however at leasat you will know who it is.

Problem is, how will they get banned? How can you reports it & who to?
Will anyone actually take any notice or will there be something included in a patch to fix it.

but, how do you know who the host is? i thought it was dynamic and selected the best connection, not just hte person who made the game.

i have experienced this though. about to capture a flag, all of the opposing team dead (so re-spawning at tehir base or thereabouts), game goes to 'Connecting' screen, comes back, all of the opposing team are at our base in ghosts, a hog had been put over the flag area, and a sniper in a hidden location..

Then this is not in the spirit of gaming. If they play like this just stop playing with them altogether.Eventually they won't have anyone willing to play them.

zoombini, I think you should remove that post, to many wrong people will try and do that, and rightly as Incognitas said, this is not the spirit of gaming, i have seen this done to me, i assumed it was my ntl connection! (750k), but this happend to me on live while at a freinds house on his 3mb connection, he explained to me what was happening, and shure as he said, i was reconnected to the game 10 seconds before the end, and the guy had 20 kills, he had killed me 20 times while i could not defend myself, or even see this happening!, this is just ruining the whole live exprensince (that i pay for, lol)

Re: Halo 2 Cheats

I play Halo online on PC, and many a time host my own games, because anyone I suspect to be trouble gets kicked.

Hence the nice thing called dedicted servers, get a friend and buy your own space.

Then the sods can sit along on there games because everyone fights with there mates online, and has people joining, and if any of them are hackers/morons they can be removed.

when you play matchmaking you dont really have a choice about who you play, only about who is in your party if you have a couple of friends online.

they really need to sort this out...

was playing a game last night, 4v4 team slayer on coagulation. heard at the very start on communicator "dont kill sam, hes going to betray..."

sam** was in my team, and spent the part of the game before i quit, not helping, letting the other team kill him, and shooting us enough to damage shields, but not kill.

they need to allow server lists like every other game......so so so so so annoying...

Then just pull the game and refuse to play point blank.Tell the rest of the team why and just stop playing. Then they know that they gain nothing by this cr@p.Also if it happens with a particular group enough put the word out about them to anyone else who may play them.Name and shame.I know it's disappointing to set up a session and then just pull it but until you do 'THEY' will not learn the lesson that they need to learn.

After all if you are playing a team game on the sports field and a team keeps cheating you have a referee or umpire who sees to fair play.If a team keep cheating then the ref can stop the game and that's that.If it was done enough in real life I reckon the fouls would decline rapidly. It should be the same with online gaming.

but if you are playing a ranked game, the last thing you want to do is quit as it still goes against your rank.

ive resorted to playing training games, or custom games with my friends.
Big team battles seem to be affected by this less..

its a shame as when you get a decent game, on a decent level, with decent players, its ace.

Well surely in a ranking game you can complain to someone?Get some rules about this established? If not and you continue playing you are just letting this get added as a generalised accepted way of winning games.Which do you want? The ranking or fair play?

who do you suggest anyone complains to?

your only channel of complaint is through player feedback.

hopefully if enough players leave negative feedback for these idiots they wont be able to carry on.
