Noisy fan

Hi y`all
I mainly use my xbox for playing dvds, but the fan noise is driving me mad. I did read somewhere here, but can`t find it now, about replacing the fan/s with quiet ones. Has anybody done this yet? And if so where does one get them from.

lt's probably cheaper to buy a dedicated DVD player from somewhere like Tescos (< 50 pounds I believe) than buy a new fan.

Re: Noisy fan

That`s my delima. I only have room for one unit. I moved the DVD player into the bedroom, and there`s no chance I can put the xbox up there as my wife goes to bed early (early starts) I don`t really want to get rid as I do play games now and then. I just need to quieten the damn thing down a bit.

I don't know what fan you mean (as I don't have an xbox) but presumably there's one on the processor heatsink, which would probably be a standard size, 60 or 80mm, you can purchase these on just about every PC component suppliers site.

Vantec or Papst (if you can find them) are fairly quiet, but probably anything other than a Delta Screamer would do you (the term "Screamer" gives away it's decibel level). it's probably a 60mm fan, you don't have as much choice with them unfortunately but I guess anything would probably be better than the stock one.
