Question Re: Speedtest

Sun, 03 Sep 2006 16:53:43 GMT

1st 512K took 1993 ms = 256.9 KB/sec, approx 2117 Kbps, 2.07 Mbps
2nd 512K took 1833 ms = 279.3 KB/sec, approx 2301 Kbps, 2.25 Mbps
3rd 512K took 1832 ms = 279.5 KB/sec, approx 2303 Kbps, 2.25 Mbps
4th 512K took 3565 ms = 143.6 KB/sec, approx 1183 Kbps, 1.16 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 1976 Kbps, 1.93 Mbps

I'm supposed to be on 4Mb, so shhhhh in case THEY notice ... seems very slow even for 4Mb connection though

Are you using ZoneAlarm - there have been a lot of reports on CF of this having an adverse effect on speeds.

Re: Speedtest

I got rid of Zone Alarm and then Kerio, as I didn't feel I was getting full speed on 10 meg, tonight with one lad playing City of Heroes upstairs and the other doing MSN and surfing etc. I get this

Sun, 3 Sep 2006 22:10:31 UTC

1st 512K took 734 ms = 697.5 KB/sec, approx 5747 Kbps, 5.61 Mbps
2nd 512K took 657 ms = 779.3 KB/sec, approx 6421 Kbps, 6.27 Mbps
3rd 512K took 640 ms = 800 KB/sec, approx 6592 Kbps, 6.44 Mbps
4th 512K took 469 ms = 1091.7 KB/sec, approx 8996 Kbps, 8.79 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 6939 Kbps, 6.78 Mbps

To be fair I expect this at this time, and I do get 9.4 in the morning.

Is there a bit of BF2 medic recharching going on there Baz ?
Also in Stockport and BF2 "does seem" better since the upgrade, even with that going on ^^^^^^^^^.
